Here we remember those who touched our lives and hearts through dance, as beloved friends, colleagues, and BOP Club members. The loss of any member is greatly felt by such a close family as our community and although they have left the dance floor, our friends will remain in our memories and hearts for years to come.

August 23, 1946 - January 24, 2026

Alan's greatest passion was Ballroom Dancing, for nearly 50 years. He was a highly accomplished prize-winning dancer.  Although Ballroom was his favorite, he embraced all styles of dance and he stepped onto the floor with enthusiasm and grace.

David Thomas

August 31, 1941 – December 25, 2025

Dave was a kind, generous and humorous soul.  He had a deep love for jazz music and was an active dance member and supporter of many dance clubs throughout several states.  Dave also shared his talent and creativity as a carver, shaping stone and wood into beautiful works of art.  He formed many lasting friendships and will be greatly missed.

Frank Reed

November 6, 1943 - October 10, 2025

Frank always wore a warm smile and found great joy in sharing his talents and energy with others. He loved performing in orchestras and choirs, and he delighted in dancing—whether square dancing or ballroom dancing.  An Ohio native and proud graduate of Ohio State University, Frank was also a member of the OSU marching band. Throughout his life, he stayed actively involved in many community and business organizations, forming lasting friendships along the way. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Thomas Edward Borbonaro

January 30, 1952 – October 7, 2024

A funny, hardworking, and truly kind soul, Tom brought light and dedication to everything he did. He participated in countless activities, and we could always count on seeing him at the Buckeye Bop Club on Tuesday nights and at many other events. Tom also generously served on the Club Board, giving his time and heart to the community he loved. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered.

Pam was full of life and grace, she loved dancing, sports and cheering on the Ohio State Buckeyes.  She had a loving family and cherished friends and will be greatly missed.

October 25, 1945 – February 19, 2021

“Rock with the Chock” as he was affectionately known as from his Doo Wop days as a Pittsburgh radio show morning host, was an avid supporter of our local dance communities.  Gary boogied his way into heaven and will be watching down on his beloved family and friends that he held near and dear to his heart.

She was selfless and kind person.  She loved dancing, shopping and traveling.  She was an active dance member of several Columbus dancing clubs and will be missed by many.

September 13, 1950 - March 26, 2020

Bob cherished his time with the Buckeye Bop Club, Columbus Swing Dance Club, his family at the Snow Trails Ski School, and his lifelong friends and fellow music aficionados in Clintonville. He was a proud RE/MAX realtor and never passed up an opportunity to be the last man on the golf course.  Bob made many friends at the Buckeye Bop Club and will be truly missed.

Gregg’s faith guided his life, and his love of dance—especially ballroom.  He brought joy to everyone who shared the floor with him. As a cherished member of the Columbus dance community, he touched countless hearts with his kindness and spirit. His absence will be felt deeply by all who knew him.

July 5, 1946 – January 8, 2018

Paul lived with an unmistakable zest for life, throwing himself wholeheartedly into every new project and passion. Whether he was on the tennis court, dancing, paragliding, or tinkering with RC cars, he embraced each moment with enthusiasm and curiosity. His inventive mind led to several U.S. patents, a testament to his creativity and drive. Above all, Paul made a profound impact on the people who loved him. His warmth, energy, and generosity will be deeply missed by his family and friends, and his memory will continue to inspire all who knew him.
